Characterization and application of novel N-hydroxylating enzymes in biocatalytic cascades

Host/Lead University: Ruhr-University Bochum
Main Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Dirk Tischler

My scientific interest in sustainability started when I was doing my BSc honours degree where I did a project in bioremediation. I was then intrigued by enzymes and their applications in organic synthesis when I did my MSc. My interests have since evolved around the discovery of novel biocatalysts and their different industrial applications.

In my spare time, I have recently discovered I enjoy hiking (which I simply call walking) as it is a good way of clearing my mind. Otherwise, I am a car enthusiast and I enjoy immersing myself in car rebuilding/restoration content and a little bit of DIY (with hopes of having a rebuild project of my own). Had I not been in science, I would have been a teacher as I come from a family full of teachers. My goal after the DN is to be able to link academic research and industrial research for efficiency in innovation and sustainability.
