🎉 PhDversary! Annual update – DC7 – Lilla Gal ✨

I’ve just completed the second year of my #PhD at the University of Graz, and it’s been a productive and diverse phase of work and growth. 

Here are a few key highlights from the past year: 
🔹 Completed my academic #secondment at the University of Göttingen, gaining valuable experience in enzyme #crystallization and new perspective from a different research environment 
🔹 Presented my work on acyltransferases at two #conferences — as a poster at BioCat 2025 in Hamburg and as an oral presentation at Novel Enzymes 2025 in Budapest 
🔹 Had the opportunity to co-organize our local doctoral conference, DocDays 2025, which gave me a deeper appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes at academic events 
🔹 Supervised an Erasmus student, Judith Müller from Bielefeld, on a short research project — a rewarding first step into mentorship 
🔹 Continued advancing my #research, focusing on the biochemical and functional aspects of #acyltransferases 

Thanks to everyone who’s been part of the process so far. 

Looking ahead, I’ll be focusing on data analysis, writing, and preparing manuscripts in year three — and looking forward to more scientific updates, an industrial secondment, and upcoming conferences and workshops in the final phase of my PhD.
